Solidarity with disabled people

What We Stand For

Our pledges to disabled people:
29 years since the Disability Discrimination Act was passed, discrimination against disabled people in the UK is still rife and this has been stated by the United Nations. With allies, we will work to :-

Achieve a tightening of penalties for disability discrimination.

Eliminate the ongoing scandal of failure by railway companies and many other organisations – public and private – to provide equality of access for disabled people, to premises, facilities and toilets.

Ensure that there is improvements to Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance and the Support Group in Universal Credit and Employment and Support Allowance and that all sickness and disability assessments are brought back ‘in-house’ with advocates assigned to help with claims.

Ensure that social housing landlords cannot block tenants’ access to Disabled Facilities grants for adaptations and that the funding for such grants is massively increased.

Ensure that a duty is placed upon social landlords to secure necessary moves of home for tenants with disability needs.
